Doesnt matter if he played it to his advantage or not because it was one of the few moments Alex gave anyone a glimpse of who he was and what he'd become.
That was definitely what struck me most about their scenes. Alex gave up a lot, whether he was misleading her or not. And either way our boy needed hugs :)
