Summary: “Alex.  Give me the gun.”

“Alex.  Give me the gun.”

I am surprised.  She has managed to keep the panic that is in her eyes out of her voice.  I say nothing.  I am out of words.  I keep the gun.  I imagine that says enough alone.

“Things are bad.  They have been bad for a long time.  I don’t know when they will change.  You don’t.  But there is one constant here Alex, and that is that things do change.  We can make them change.  And we don’t have to change them with a gun.  You don’t have to.  Not anymore.

The gun is out of words.  I speak.

“Nothing in my life has ever been as easy as this.”

I watch as her panic dies and anger is given life in its place.  She is yelling now.

“Easy, is it?  Easy to take your own life and leave me behind?  Easy to leave our son?  He’s seven years old, Alex.  How will I tell him his father didn’t want to be with him anymore?”  Malice stirs in the depths of Pam’s eyes and she strikes out, her voice lowering to a hiss.  “How do I tell him that his father would rather be in hell than with his own son?”

I want to turn the barrel on her for what she’s said.  What will it matter anyway?  In a minute I will be dead.  On the way from its place against my head to point at her own, the gun falters and falls.  My fingers have a mind of their own.  My entire self has a mind of its own and I am shaking and shaking and shaking and I think maybe I will die anyway.  I watch her malice die and I don’t know what is there now, but I can’t see her eyes anymore and her arms are holding me and her lips are in my hair and I shake as I pull her to me.

FIN

Did you mean Alex attempt to commit suicide??? Jesus! That's horrible! I don't believe he really wanna do this. He has a son and a wife who always love him and expect him to be back. Or at least Pam forgave him as soon as he phoned if he need an excuse of guity. Well, and you're right he has a son who's just a little kid; how could his son accept his suicide, how about the ruin to his life?!!! Where's his responsibility?!!! Gosh! If he did this, he'd never be the character I like any more! *Gosh, it's just a fic!...dizzy*

I love you. You are a genius. Sometime in the next century when I stop crying from your tragically beautiful fic I will find a better way to express my adoration.

Oh this is just gorgeous!! LOVE IT!

I think he has been very close to this edge a few times so I find this very believable.

As for doing something so rash when he has a family to think of I do believe he must think after what was done to his son they'd perhaps be safer in the long run if he was dead.

That being said he proved by the end of the season be wanted to live ... wanted to be with his family more than anything so I can see Pam, mention of his lil boy, being the one thing that could pull Alex back from the edge.

Wonderful!

Hope you don't mind of I pimp this to my Mahone pals this week :)

*is in a daze* What a powerful, emotional scene. God knows what got Alex to that point but you captured it perfectly.

Wow, that was really something! Harsh, but very realistic - I'm pretty sure that Alex nearly did it once or twice during the show - I'm thinking espiecially about him being locked in a cage in Rendezvous/Bolshoi Booze and in Killing Box, where he was literally staring at the barrel of his gun.
I loved every single word of this, especially what Pam has said, because she's such a brave and great woman and because she won't break down, she just fights. And what she said was so real, again.

But there is one constant here Alex, and that is that things do change. We can make them change. And we don’t have to change them with a gun. You don’t have to. Not anymore.”
Loved it!:D
